The mission of The National Research Institute of Electronics and Cryptology (UEKAE) is “to conduct activities in the fields of Information Security and Advanced Electronics Technologies in order to contribute to technological independence of Turkey”. In order to realize the vision of “to become an internationally recognized center for science and solutions in the abovementioned fields with a solid infrastructure and highly qualified staff” determined with our mission in mind and to be able to develop technologies needed by the nation, basic and applied research are carried out in accredited test platforms and laboratories and technical support is provided upon demand.

The organizational structure of the Institute consists of an Executive Board, a Director, Assistant Directors, Research Departments, Project Groups and support personnel.

UEKAE produces projects in partnership with public and private sector organizations and ensures participation of universities in these projects. In addition, the institute responds to the national needs in the fields of information security and advanced electronics technologies, while contributing to the Post Graduate / Doctoral studies as well as universal science.

The success of the UEKAE achieved in the international arena, including the winning of several national and NATO tenders and competitions, can be mostly attributed to its highly qualified and dynamic personnel. On the other hand, young researchers have always the chance to exploit their creativity fully by forming project groups under the leadership of a project manager.

UEKAE has the richest library nationwide in the fields of cryptology and information security with over 2700 books and 70 periodicals as of June 2004.

Every UEKAE employee is fully aware of the requirements of his/her job and strictly complies with the security rules. The special security measures required within the scope of projects are fulfilled by security rules and procedures and by the new premises designed according to these needs. This has been certified by the National and NATO Facility Security Certificates.

UEKAE administration and employees believe fully in total quality and work constantly with this objective in mind for turning total quality management to a reality within the Institute. Every UEKAE employee receives a total quality management training in order to achieve this. As a result of these efforts, the Institute has been awarded the ISO 9001-2000, AQAP-110, AQAP-130,AQAP-150 and BS7799-2 certificates, the EMI / EMC and OKTEM Test Center has been accredited by the Turkish Accreditation Authority (TURKAK).

With its understanding to find solutions to not only government’s but private sector’s information security needs, thus expanding its customer profile, the UEKAE aims to provide employment opportunities to young researchers of the nation where they can participate in proprietary research and development activities.
